When people think of male models in Halifax, one of the first names to pop into anyone’s head is Matt Ryan. Matt has been actively involved in the modeling and the fitness community for a very long time.
This was the first time I got a chance to meet and work with Matt, and he was utterly fantastic. With numerous fitness competitions coming up, this was a good practice run for him and also a good change for me working with a male model! I feel like we got some truly awesome work out images!
Sandrella and I met a few years ago when she was pregnant with her first child Jasmine. Since motherhood Sandrella had be anxious to get back into training and competing in women’s fitness.
I was thrilled to photograph her again she is a really fun and energetic lady! She looked fantastic and was a real joy to work with.
These are just some of the images we got that day!
Sarah and I met and worked briefly together back in 2007 for a hair competition. We had talked over the years about getting together and doing a shoot, but time was not in our favor it seems!
Sarah has been training like a mad woman for the past little while, and is entering in a few fitness competition in the coming weeks. She got a hold of me to get into the gym for a “mid fit” session, so she would have photos of her progress. Hard to believe she is only halfway in these photos with a body like that!
I have to say, this was a GREAT photo shoot for me, as I had never gotten a real chance to shoot fitness, let alone getting to have the run of the gym with lights and gear everywhere! I really feel these images came out so well (for a first timer!) and hope that this isn’t the last time that I get a chance to work in this genre.. OR with the lovely Sarah!
Big Thanks to Fitness FX for letting us take over!
Caitlyn and I go way back to when I was studying photography in collage. We worked together briefly on a project and have both been egar to work together again. Finally we had a change to team up for some new images and also are going to be seeing more of each other, especially at her wedding in September!
Caitlyn is known for her work as a fashion model. She was looking to get together and do something a “little” more on the Glamor side. Here are some examples of what we got!
Andrew and I have been (sort of) working together for about a year. His company sells to the store that I work at through the week. When I heard that he and his wife Lindsay were expecting their first child I told him I would love to get together and do some photos with them!
We missed out on getting to photograph the baby bump.. and with Christmas approaching, time was hard to come by. Lindsay was past due for the little man, and I told Andrew that he would be born on Saturday (Dec 17th) because it was lucky. (Also because it is MY birthday!)
Sure enough! The little man was born that Saturday and just before New Years I got to meet him. So say hello to baby Jude! Future hockey player!

Hard to call them kids when they are this age.
Meaghanne and my husband have been best friends since the dawn of time. She and her brother Zack wanted to get some photos together for their folks for the holidays. We managed to luck out and run into the right people at the right time, and got to go into the Seahorse Tavern while it was empty to get some really cool shots. It’s always hard photographing siblings, especially when they are close in age, but these two were just fun to goof around with. Sometimes the key to great images, is not take things too seriously.
I was surprised this past fall that my dear friends Mike and Carrie announced their engagement! Everyone who knows these two know that they are just adorable together and have a great little family already with Dali.
We got together for dinner one evening and did some photos of everyone together. Mike finally agreed to wear the shirt only if he could “smoke a pipe and lord over all his manliness.” Needless to say we all agreed! Dali also took some time to learn how to put on lipstick. I don’t know if I have ever laughed so hard at her face and managed to catch the picture too!

Once again I got a change to get together at the Doyle house for some quick photos for Christmas cards this year. People always say that “time flies” especially when talking about their kids. Now, not having kids of my own I still have those freedoms of messy houses and random out of town adventures. But I also get to see what people mean when I get to work with families over and over throughout the years. It’s amazing to see how much they grow over a few months, and how their personalities flourish!
Rambling aside.. here they are!
Picture perfect…
… but we all know what it’s really like to shoot family photos with two toddlers
With having some technical issues over the past little while I had fallen behind on a lot of posts!
Here we have the Whiting family who wanted to get together just before the holiday season for some new family photos. With the warm weather that we had through most of December, and the Christmas tree lots popping up everywhere I thought it may be fun to head out and pick a tree together!
Violet had a grand time walking up and down all the trees and looking at the Santa Helicopter, which I do believe Pat was more obsessed with
